Decades of Experience when it comes to Wines

Our passion for agriculture and the vineyard comes from afar and is well-rooted in our family. After producing grapes for decades, we decided in 2014 to give life to labels all of our own by fully embracing the choices that the territory of Cortona has been making for a few years now.

The idea of the Cantina was born in 2012, following a split of the old family farm. It was then that we decided to allocate the vineyards cultivated with Syrah and a small plot cultivated with Merlot to winemaking.

We have restored and brought back to its ancient splendor the farmhouse, belonging to our family since 1600, keeping intact all its features. At the same time, we started the construction of the Winery.

The Name of the Winery

The name "Canaio" comes from the nickname of one of our ancestors who lived in the family estate, nicknamed "il Canaio" for his great passion for hunting and therefore for the large number of dogs he owned.

In small-medium sized company like ours, the production philosophy cannot be other than focusing on a single goal: quality.

Every choice of our company is extremely important and implies absolute dedication and attention to every single detail.

No shortcuts are allowed, neither in the vineyard nor in the winery.

Every vintage is interpreted as it is, without any form of homogenization.

We had a family outing to Cantina Canaio for a cooking class and wine tasting. Chef Claudia and host Marzia took great care of us for the entire experience. We were able to make our own focaccia, hand rolled pasta, pork medallions and some wonderful tiramisu for desert. All were paired with their wonder Syrah wines. Chef Claudia and Marzia exceeded all exceptions it was one of the best experiences of out tour of Italy. Grazie Mille

We received a warm welcome. Good products, although the red wines are a bit pricey.
