Nestled in the picturesque hills of Modena, Cantina Della Volta is situated in the renowned Lambrusco di Sorbara region of Emilia Romagna. This certified wine area boasts a unique microclimate and fertile terroirs, perfect for producing exceptional sparkling wines. The estate offers a diverse selection under the ‘Il Mattaglio’ label, including two still wines, two vintage reserves from single grape varietals, two brut sparkling wines, and one zero dosage sparkling wine.

A Modern Approach to Winemaking

Led by fourth-generation winemaker Christian Bellei, Cantina Della Volta has a rich history dating back to 1920 when Christian’s great-grandfather established the winery near the Naviglio di Bomporto. After studying traditional wine production methods in Epernay, Christian transformed the estate into a modern winery in 2010. Together with his father Giuseppe, they craft high-quality sparkling wines that have gained recognition both locally and internationally.

Commitment to Quality

Spanning 34 hectares, with ten dedicated to vineyards, the estate has expanded since Christian’s father acquired additional land in San Lorenzo in 1981. The Bellei family cultivates three grape varieties: Lambrusco, Pinot Nero, and Chardonnay. All vineyard activities, including cultivation, pruning, and harvesting, are performed manually, ensuring only the finest grapes are selected and transported to the cellar in 17 kg boxes.

The Della Volta wine cellar beautifully blends tradition with modern technology. Located near the historic 18th-century Darsena, the cellar is equipped with advanced systems, including a Bucher Vaslin press, thermo-conditioned stainless steel tanks, and a variety of barrels for optimal aging and refinement.
