Cantina Fegnan- Winery nestled in the Beautiful Valley of Tuscany Region and Producing Top-Class Wines
Nestled in one of the most suitable territories of Italy, Cantina Fegnan has its base in the beautiful valley of Casentino in the Tuscany region of Italy. The winery is a result of a long-going family’s industrial tradition that began in the 20th century. The current owner, Roberto Fegnan, has completely dedicated himself to the production of top-class sparkling wines, made from single grape varieties.
First Winery Producing Metodo Classico
Started as a small sparkling wine estate in 2009, Cantina Fegnan became the first winery in the province that produced MetodoClassico, a high-end sparkling wine. While travelling with a friend in the Casentinese forests, Roberto fell in love with the charms of the region. He decided to plant Vigna del Patriota in the vineyards of Loc. Buiano, located in the rolling hills of Poppi. The passion and determination of Roberto and Maria Grazia gave birth to this new project that today delivers delicious sparkling and red wines, made within IGT labels.
Roberto cultivated his vineyards with native Italian wines in 2013 with around 7000 Chardonnay and 3000 Pinot Noir.
Although Cantina Fegnan adopted organic cultivation from the beginning, but in 2018 the estate got organic certification.
Some other grape varieties that can be seen in the vineyards include high-quality Ciliegiolo, FogliaTonda, Sangiovese, and Pugnitello.
The cellar construction was started in 2013, and rocks of the vineyards are used to build the walls. Here, a combination of traditional and state-of-the-art winemaking methods are adopted to produce top-class MetodoClassico and other IGT wines. The wines are stored in French oak barrels for aging and refining.
