A Pillar of Viticulture in Valle dei Laghi
The History of Cantina Toblino
Founded in 1976, Cantina Toblino emerged from the collaboration of dedicated winemakers in the Valle dei Laghi. Their mission was to unite social cooperation with the rich heritage of the region. Over the years, Cantina Toblino has established itself as a cornerstone of viticulture in Valle dei Laghi, where vineyards serve as open-air laboratories for research and innovation. The winery operates an agricultural company, Toblino Srl, which manages around 40 hectares of organic vineyards. Additionally, it sources grapes from over 600 local winegrowers, covering a total of 850 hectares.
The Vineyards of Cantina Toblino
Spanning approximately 40 hectares, the vineyards of Cantina Toblino are cultivated with advanced techniques that prioritize sustainability and organic practices. Nestled between the northern shores of Lake Toblino and the southern edge of Pergolese village, this area, once known as Piano Sarca, is ideal for grape growing. The Nosiola varietal stands out as the signature grape of Cantina Toblino, harvested in mid-October after a lengthy maturation process. After picking, the grapes are laid on traditional racks called arele for natural withering. The resulting sweet must is aged in oak barrels, where fermentation halts at a moderate alcohol level, creating the renowned Vino Santo of Cantina Toblino.
