Casale Mattia is located on the homonymous hill south of Rome, in a area that has always been dedicated to the production of Frascati wine. The estate has been in the ownership of the currently family for three generations after acquiring the land in the sixties. Winemaking has been the passion of the family passed on from father to son and exemplifies the story of every traditional winemaking family in Italy.
The land where they grow their grapes are rich in volcanic residue. The vineyards altenate with olive groves and fields forming a good model of biodiversity. The most widespread native vine in the area is Malvasia di Candia. Other grape varieties like Trebbiano, Cesanese, Merlot and Bombino are also grown in their vineyard. Attention to the territory and the commitment to its sustainability have resulted in the production of typical wines of the area, the famous one being Frascati wine. It is a typical wine of the region made using Malvasia and other grape varieties. They also produce other whites and reds using traditional winemaking methods. Their line also consists of white and rose spakling wines made using charmat method.
