A Historic Winery with Four Locations in Puglia
Castel di Salve is a renowned winery located in the picturesque village of Depressa, near Tricase in Southern Puglia. This architectural gem, built from local Lecce stone, was established by Antonio Winspeare in the late 19th century, reflecting the region's traditional building style. Today, the winery is lovingly managed by his grand-nephew Francesco and his son Riccardo, who have revitalized the estate while maintaining its rich heritage. They have carefully selected old vineyards and the finest soil to cultivate new vines.
At Castel di Salve, we believe that exceptional wine starts with exceptional grapes. Our team is dedicated to nurturing our vineyards daily, ensuring every aspect of the cultivation process is meticulously attended to. We primarily focus on indigenous Salento grape varieties, including Verdeca, Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Malvasia Nera di Lecce, while also incorporating other exclusive southern Italian varieties. Our aim is to capture the vibrant red hues of the local soil, the aromatic essence of the Mediterranean, the warmth of the Salento sun, and a subtle hint of the nearby sea in every bottle.
