Cava Oriol Rossell, established in the early 1970s, is nestled between the Alt and Baix Penedes regions, surrounded by the stunning Prelitoral and Litoral mountain ranges. The estate spans 70 hectares and is home to the historic Cal Cassanyes manor, which dates back to the 17th century. This family-run winery prides itself on preserving traditional winemaking techniques, which are the cornerstone of their exceptional Cava.

The Vines of Cal Cassanyes Heritage
The vineyards benefit from a Mediterranean climate, thanks to their proximity to the sea, resulting in distinctive wines. The Xarel·lo grape, known as the queen of Cal Cassanyes, is the primary variety cultivated here, alongside Macabeo and Parellada for white wines. For reds, the winery produces Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. With an average vine age exceeding 50 years, the quality of the grapes is exceptional. The only variety sourced from outside is Trepat, used for their Cava Rosé. The close location of the winery to the vineyards allows for immediate hand-picking and vinification, where passion and tradition come together to create remarkable wines.
The Terroir and Ecological Practices
The soils at Cava Oriol Rossell are primarily calcareous, featuring sandy and silty textures that are ideal for crafting fine wines. The estate showcases a diverse landscape, ranging from the finest northern soils to the fertile central lands and the gravelly southern terrain. This variety contributes to the production of elegant wines that are both traditional and unique. Committed to sustainability, the winery follows ecological practices, and all vineyards are certified by the Catalan Council of Organic Agricultural Production.
