Château Guipière: A Legacy of Winemaking

Château Guipière is situated at the gateway to the Loire Valley in Vallet, the heart of Muscadet wine production in the Nantes region. Originally built in the 18th century, the estate showcases Tuscan architectural influences, although it faced destruction in the 19th century. The winery's viticultural history dates back to 1842, and after a renovation in 2016, it now spans 28 hectares of picturesque landscape. Today, Philippe Nevoux owns the estate, with Stéphane Gouraud managing its operations.

Château Guipière is celebrated for its exceptional Muscadet wines.

A Unique Terroir

The Nantes vineyard, located at the mouth of the Loire River, features a distinctive combination of terroirs. The region's soil consists of eruptive and metamorphic rocks, with the estate resting on mica-schist and amphibolite mother rocks. This geological foundation promotes deep vine rooting and effective soil drainage. Rich in nutrients, the soil is perfectly suited for vine cultivation, contributing to the quality of the wines produced here.

Grapes and Wines of Château Guipière

Château Guipière primarily cultivates Melon de Bourgogne, Folle Blanche, and Pinot Gris grapes. Melon de Bourgogne, the dominant variety for Muscadet, is the only grape permitted for this appellation. Known for its ability to express the terroir, this grape offers a vibrant and delicate flavor profile with refreshing lemon notes. Thriving in the region's cool and humid climate, Melon de Bourgogne comprises 80% of the vineyard's plantings, ensuring the production of high-quality wines that reflect the essence of the Loire Valley.
