Château La Dournie, a Family-Run Winery

Château La Dournie which has been owned by the Étienne Family for six generations, is located in the beautiful town of Saint Chinian. The family acquired the estate in 1870. Since then, Château La Dournie has been handed over from mother to daughter for six generations. The winery produces quality wines and preserves its heritage in all winemaking practices. The vineyard consists of 45 hectares all in one plot of land and 14 different grape varieties are grown. Twenty hectares are located on soil made up of shale slopes, the rest of the vineyard area is located on the banks of a river.

In both the vineyards and the cellar at Château La Dournie, the main focus is on the preservation of nature and simplicity of craft. The family works in respect with the environmental heritage which helps in the production of quality wines. A new generation of winemakers continues with their strong regional and cultural values to make harmonious and excellent wines that represent the region. Château La Dournie plants Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Marselan, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cinsault. Over the years, their passion for vines continues to grow and the winemakers of Château La Dournie increase their knowledge everyday with new experiences. Château La Dournie takes great care in the cellar to make wines as naturally as possible that show the region at its best.
