A Historic Winery Nestled in the Scenic Sallèles Valley
Château La Font Des Ormes: A Hidden Gem
Located in the picturesque region of Languedoc-Roussillon, between Montpellier and Béziers, Château La Font Des Ormes is a winery that captures the essence of southern France. Surrounded by lush Mediterranean landscapes, this estate features ancient stone buildings that harmonize beautifully with the natural surroundings. The charm of these historic structures first attracted Guy Cazalis de Fondouce, the owner of the winery.
The Winery's Origins
Guy and his wife fell in love with the estate's historic buildings and began restoring them, which led to the discovery of the land's rich soil. In 2000, they established Château La Font Des Ormes as a winery. Today, Guy and Mireille manage the estate, with Mireille overseeing daily operations, vineyard management, and the implementation of biodynamic practices. Together with Bertrand, the winemaker, they craft unique wines that reflect the terroir of the region.
Restoration with Care
With the expertise of architect Ariel Balmassière, the winery's medieval buildings have been meticulously restored using lime-render and traditional techniques. The timber frames and roofs have been carefully repaired, preserving the original details that give the estate its character. This commitment to restoration ensures that the winery maintains its historical significance while producing exceptional wines.
