The History of Domaine de la Jobeline
Domaine de la Jobeline is located in Verzé, a small historic village of Mâconnais and benefits from an exceptional terroir in the heart of Burgundy. The vineyards of Domaine de la Jobeline are located a few hundred meters away from the winery. Claude settled in Verzé in 1915 and established the estate. Later, his son, Paul, inherited a part of the estate and developed it before passing it down to his son Pierre in 2004. Now, Pierre Maillet is the owner of the winery. With over 13 hectares, the vineyard produces a large range of Burgundian wines.
Winemaking at Domaine de la Jobeline
In 2014, after leaving the cooperative cellar, Pierre Maillet extended the estate by creating Domaine de la Jobeline. He has been doing major reconstruction and replanting work to produce quality wine over the years. The winemaker uses grape varieties including Chardonnay, Aligoté, and Gamay to make excpetional wines. They bring freshly picked grapes to the press within minutes to save the berries and juices from oxidation and heat. The youngest and oldest vines are harvested by hand to guarantee a high quality grape selection. The soil is made of clay-limestone, which is best for vine growing in their terroir. Pierre Maillet works in the vineyard every day to maintain the life and natural ecosystem of their land. He uses both traditional and modern techniques to create ideal wines at Domaine de la Jobeline.
