A Family Legacy of Winemaking

Since 1974, Paul and Marie-Elisabeth Joyet have nurtured the Domaine des Girasols winery. Today, their daughter Françoise and her husband Jon carry on the family tradition after a decade in California. The next generation is also involved, with their son Julien working at the winery and their daughter Pauline currently studying. The estate is beautifully situated at the base of the medieval village of Rasteau, offering stunning views of the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux.

A Rich and Diverse Wine Portfolio

Spanning 16 hectares, Domaine des Girasols produces a remarkable selection of wines that showcase strength, balance, and quality. The average age of the vines is between 50 and 60 years, with popular grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, and Carignan. The winery's cellar, established in 1978, is uniquely designed on a hillside, utilizing gravity for winemaking to minimize excessive pumping.

Old Vines and Exceptional Terroir

The vineyard benefits from a unique terroir and a favorable local climate, resulting in wines with exceptional taste and quality. Many of the vines are over 100 years old, contributing complexity and a long finish to the wines. The grape varieties, including Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, and Cinsault, are the foundation of Domaine des Girasols' offerings. A family estate where quality takes precedence over quantity and where they take the time to give you explanations. Lovely welcome and delicious (and organic) wines. Just perfect!

Despite the ongoing harvest, the owner took a lot of time for us. We were able to try everything and received good advice. We really enjoyed the wine. We were also able to play with the family's friendly dog.

Loaded onto a long-haul vehicle at this point. Even though I arrived later than they were working, they loaded me without any problems! A very polite and respectable family! Of course, driving a 17-meter truck is not easy, but doable. Turned over in the yard. Cool dog! The place is very nice, ps if you don't drive a 17-meter truck :)
