The Story of Passionate Winemakers

In 2020, Maxime and Jean-Pierre Sother began a new chapter in winemaking at Domaine du Manoir. Their goal is to share their love for wine and the land with future generations. They found their perfect location in Valeyres-sous-Rances, alongside the historic Château de Malessert in Perroy.

The Unique Terroirs

The distinct character of each estate and their complementary terroirs contribute to the exceptional quality of their wines. Château de Malessert boasts a rich history spanning over a thousand years, where Chasselas, the estate's flagship grape, thrives in glacial moraine soil.

Domaine du Manoir spans two lesser-known AOC regions, Côtes del’Orbe and Bonvillars, which are gaining recognition for their unique flavor profiles. Each plot at Domaine du Manoir has its own micro-climate, allowing red grape varieties like Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Gamay to flourish in diverse soils, including yellow limestone and Jurassic marl, resulting in complex and elegant wines.

A Commitment to Sustainability

The Sother family is dedicated to cultivating these estates through organic practices, focusing on enhancing biodiversity. Their ecological approach not only respects the land but also reflects in the quality of the wines produced, ensuring a sustainable legacy for future generations.

We spent four nights in this magnificent mansion where Lionel and Laurence took excellent care of us. Thank you for your welcome and kindness. We highly recommend this place, ideally located for exploring Chambéry, Aix-les-Bains, Grenoble, and enjoying the mountains.

A single night was enough for a total change of scenery. The environment is really warm. The peace and serenity of the place did us a lot of good. Our hosts were wonderful in their welcome and the information they provided. Not to mention a big heart for their dog Tess. The bar was set very high during this stay.

A stay at the Domaine du Manoir des Avenières is much more than just an experience: it is truly enchanting! As soon as we arrived, we were struck by the exceptional setting: a place where timeless elegance and preserved nature blend harmoniously. The spacious rooms are a true haven of comfort, carefully decorated and offering a relaxing atmosphere. The large swimming pool invites you to relax - it's a shame not to be able to enjoy it in December - and the tennis court will delight sports enthusiasts, adding a dynamic touch to this place full of serenity. But what makes this experience even more memorable is the incomparable welcome of the owners, Lionel and Laurence. Their passion and dedication transform every moment into a unique moment. Special mention to Laurence, who is a true culinary artist! His dishes, worthy of a star chef, awaken the palate and reflect exceptional know-how, combined with incomparable generosity. The Manoir des Avenières is a perfect destination to recharge your batteries, enjoy yourself and feel privileged. Thank you to Lionel and Laurence for this fabulous stay that will remain etched in our memories. We can't wait to return to this heavenly setting!
