A Family Legacy in Swiss Winemaking
The Story of Passionate Winemakers
In 2020, Maxime and Jean-Pierre Sother began a new chapter in winemaking at Domaine du Manoir. Their goal is to share their love for wine and the land with future generations. They found their perfect location in Valeyres-sous-Rances, alongside the historic Château de Malessert in Perroy.
The Unique Terroirs
The distinct character of each estate and their complementary terroirs contribute to the exceptional quality of their wines. Château de Malessert boasts a rich history spanning over a thousand years, where Chasselas, the estate's flagship grape, thrives in glacial moraine soil.
Domaine du Manoir spans two lesser-known AOC regions, Côtes del’Orbe and Bonvillars, which are gaining recognition for their unique flavor profiles. Each plot at Domaine du Manoir has its own micro-climate, allowing red grape varieties like Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Gamay to flourish in diverse soils, including yellow limestone and Jurassic marl, resulting in complex and elegant wines.
A Commitment to Sustainability
The Sother family is dedicated to cultivating these estates through organic practices, focusing on enhancing biodiversity. Their ecological approach not only respects the land but also reflects in the quality of the wines produced, ensuring a sustainable legacy for future generations.
