A Greek Winery Crafting Organic Wines with Tradition
Domaine Nikolaou: A Legacy of Winemaking Since the 1930s
Nestled at the base of Mount Beseza in Ntouramani, near the historic city of Keleon in Fliounta, Domaine Nikolaou is a gem in the Nemea PDO wine-growing region. The winery benefits from fertile soil and refreshing Mediterranean breezes, producing high-quality grapes that result in exceptional wines.
In 1984, Domaine Nikolaou underwent significant renovations, adopting organic practices in viticulture and winemaking.
Honoring Tradition in Winemaking
The Nikolaou family's winemaking traditions date back to the mid-1930s. Over the decades, they have expanded their operations while preserving the essence of their heritage. Today, Giannis Nikolaou, the current owner and CEO, has integrated modern technology into the winery while maintaining traditional methods to cultivate organic grapes.
Diverse Grape Varieties
Spanning 13 hectares, Domaine Nikolaou cultivates a variety of grapes to create outstanding organic wines. The estate features local varieties such as Agiorgitiko for red and rosé wines, alongside international favorites like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah. For white wines, unique grapes like Malagouzia, Moschofilero, Assyrtiko, and Kydonitsa are used, resulting in award-winning selections.
Visitors can enjoy activities like hiking, mountain biking, and archery on the estate, making it a perfect getaway to appreciate the stunning vineyards while savoring a glass of wine away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
