Welcome!

Domaine Ponty, is the place where I grew up, the site of my summer job, and the legacy of my great-grandfather, who founded it in 1905. After taking degrees in law and business, I craved an adventure and went to live overseas. Firstly in the US, then China. Finally, after many twists and turns, it was time to revisit the place where everything began. I came back to Fronsac to take on the winery in September 2019. Today, Domaine Ponty represents both the beautiful tradition of more than a century, paired with the a modern, holistic vision in tune with the natural world.

An Organic & Biodynamic Approach

Of all the properties I have visited, not just in France, but globally, there were some that stood out. The soils seemed richer, the vines more beautiful, the environment more diverse, and the wines more alive. These properties were always organic or biodynamic, and it follows that I have turned to these methods of vineyard management for the new generation of Ponty Wines.

Our aim is to create an overall environment that generates a feel-good factor for all those involved in our vineyard. The vine, first and foremost, which must flourish on living soils, rich in organic matter and biodiversity, but not only that. I want this slice of beautiful land to resonate with our team, our customers, our neighbours, the flora and fauna that live in or pass through our vineyards. This is achieved through organic farming and biodynamics, alongside the promotion of biodiversity. Our vineyard is a place of real contentment, where the grapes can grow healthily in the most natural way possible.

Our Wines

In the cellar, we minimise interventions in order to best express the true qualities of the grape and the terroir from which it comes. I have always wanted to make wines with a strong personality, with real character, wines that will affect you, eschew indifference and encourage conversation. My father never wanted to change his style to keep up with fashions, and I follow the same philosophy: my style of wine is the one I myself like to drink. Wines with freshness, superb juice, complexity, and a wood which sublimates the grape rather than masking it.

This is a large-scale, long-term project that I'm undertaking within a small appellation, Canon Fronsac, which boasts some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Bordeaux region. Come visit us to discover our estate and our wines!
