Domeniile Sahateni Winery, A Winemaker’s Vision
Domeniile Sahateni Winery started in 2003 when the winery was established by experienced oenologist Aurelia Visinescu and her partner, Steve Cacenco. Her passion for winemaking made her dream of owning a winery, and it became real. Their estate is spread over 82 hectares, and the winery can produce one million bottles of wine every year.
The winery workers at Domeniile Sahateni Winery have dedicated their lives to the vineyards and are passionate about their work.
The Great Terroir of Domeniile Sahateni Winery
The vineyards are present in the Dealu Mare amongst the hills and receive adequate sunshine and water. The soil is clay-based rich in minerals, and an ideal climate and rainfall make the region ideal for the growth and cultivation of vines. The staff works hard to preserve and protect their vines so that the quality of grapes is high. The conditions of their terroir impart an intense fruity taste and strong aromas to the wines. The majority of the vineyards got replanted in 2008 with new varieties and better techniques. The main types of grapes that grow are Feteasca Neagra, Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Regala, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Tamaioasa Romaneasca, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The best grapes are used to make their exquisite red, white, rosé, and dessert wines.
