Wine tasting and Tour at Fattoria Sardi
Two exclusive tours including a visit to the vineyard and cellars, and a wine tasting with local food and snacks
Fattoria Sardi is a boutique family winery located in the Northwestern Tuscany, in between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Apuan Alps. Their goal is to make distinct wines that reflect the qualities of their gifted terroir and their family traditions.
A young couple manages the organic and biodynamic certified winery, and they mainly focus on rose wines typical to the Lucca terroir.
Apart from 18 hectares of vineyards, the estate also has arable fields, olive groves, and woods. As the estate is between two rivers, there is sufficient sunlight and ventilation. The mountains keep the region cool even during the summer months. This unique microclimate is coupled with loose soils with silt-sand and a lot of pebbles. All this is perfect for cultivating vines. To enhance the soil quality, an organic preparation called 500p is given to the vines. There is no use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. All this helps in making wines with rich acidity and flavor.
The main grape varieties they grow at their winery include Sangiovese, Vermentino, Trebbiano, Syrah, Merlot, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Grechetto, Malvasia, Colorino Nero di Lucca, and Moscato Rosso d’Amburgo. The best, ripe grapes are manually harvested and taken to the cellar in boxes. Apart from rose wines, they also make red, white, and sparkling wines. For every vineyard, there is a unique winemaking and ageing technique to get the best out of the grapes. Physical treatments and sulfur dioxide are added to the wines to stabilize them before bottling.
