Fattoria Sardi - A Family-Owned Winery in Northwestern Tuscany

Fattoria Sardi is a charming family-owned winery nestled in the picturesque region of Northwestern Tuscany, situated between the stunning Tyrrhenian Sea and the majestic Apuan Alps. The winery is dedicated to producing exceptional wines that embody the unique characteristics of their terroir and the rich traditions of their family.

Managed by a passionate young couple, Fattoria Sardi is committed to organic and biodynamic practices, with a primary focus on crafting rosé wines that reflect the essence of the Lucca terroir.

Organic Practices for Healthy Vines

Spanning 18 hectares, the estate features not only vineyards but also arable fields, olive groves, and lush woodlands. The location, nestled between two rivers, benefits from ample sunlight and natural ventilation, while the surrounding mountains provide a cooling effect during the hot summer months. This ideal microclimate, combined with loose, silt-sand soils rich in pebbles, creates perfect conditions for vine cultivation. To maintain soil health, the winery employs an organic preparation known as 500p, avoiding pesticides and chemical fertilizers. This commitment to organic farming results in wines with vibrant acidity and complex flavors.

Distinct Winemaking and Aging Techniques

Fattoria Sardi cultivates a variety of grape types, including Sangiovese, Vermentino, Trebbiano, Syrah, Merlot, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Grechetto, Malvasia, Colorino Nero di Lucca, and Moscato Rosso d’Amburgo. The winery hand-harvests the ripest grapes, transporting them to the cellar in boxes. In addition to rosé wines, they produce red, white, and sparkling wines. Each vineyard benefits from tailored winemaking and aging techniques designed to highlight the unique qualities of the grapes. To ensure stability before bottling, physical treatments and sulfur dioxide are carefully applied to the wines.

Great, beautiful place. 15 min from Lucca. Very friendly, accomodating and knowledgeable staff. Had 7:30 pm appt. Arrived 1 hr early, we accomodated and watched a beautiful Tuscany sun set. Had live jazz music during dinner service. (Trumpet and piano). Did not stay at hotel. Hats off to the chef and staff for such beautiful experience.

We discovered this beautiful place during a business lunch. What can I say other than that it was a magnificent experience, worth repeating and, above all, recommending? Excellent food and wines produced by them. The red wine "Sebastiano" stands out, a real delight. Impeccable service, very professional staff willing to please the guest. Thank you for everything!

The review refers to the restaurant and not the hotel. Excellent experience, the atmosphere is comfortable and warm, the cuisine expresses inventiveness combined with simplicity: perfect preparations without too many frills or mannerisms. Few options, but the menu changes regularly and I personally think that is the most appreciated thing.

The meal showcased lemon season beautifully, with bright, refreshing dishes. The highlight was the velvety, zesty lemon butter tagliatelle. At 50€ per person, the quality and craftsmanship made it an exceptional value for money a delightful overall experience.

We went to the estate with some friends and we chose the vegetarian tasting menu. Quality products, excellent dishes but above all an impeccable service that puts you at ease.

Just went for a wine tasting, didn't stay here. Walter, who led the tour and tasting, did a great job of switching between English and Italian for the small group. Lovely wines and a really cool venue that was easy to get to by bus from Lucca.
