Winery with Rich Spanish Legacy and Argentinian Soul of Winemaking
Toro Wines and Story Behind Them
It is a well-known fact that Spain is brightly diverse country. So is the history of the region where the winery is located. Bodegas Legado De Orniz inherited a legacy based on respect and deep knowledge of Castilla Y Leon region and its lands, which have been cultivated for thousands of years by Celts, Romans, Visigoths, Arabs, and finally Spaniards. This fusion of civilizations results in “”The Redest”” Spanish wine – Tinta de Toro. A quick lesson of Spanish in order to better understand why this wine is so special: “”Tinta”” means “”Red””, “”de Toro”” means “”of Bull””. Indeed, the color of wine is as red as bulls’ blood. That is why the geographical appelation, under which the winery produces wines, is called DO Toro.
Argentinian Notes in Bodegas Legado De Orniz
If the winery itself and the vineyards around are the Body, then winery’s masters are its Soul. The cellar is rulled by Spain-native Enriqueta Celemín Amaro and Argentine born Diego Alfredo Ribbert. Both of them have Oenology Degrees and many years of vinification experience around the world. Together they represent the best of Spanish and Argentinian winemaking schools. The owners value sustainable approach, and they personally always glad to meet visitors of the winery.
The Winery and Its Unique Terroir
The DO Toro wine region is a land with extensive winemaking history. The vineyards here are unique: while in XIX century the whole Europe suffered from devastating Phyloxera plague, thr noble vineyards of Toro remain untouched, particularly due to exceptional structure of the soil. That’s why here you can taste rare wines made from grapes grown on selected pre-Phyloxera vines.
