Les Acacies: The World’s Smallest Winery

Founded in 2008 by Mario Monrós, Les Acacies is a unique wine project nestled in Avinyó, Catalonia, at an elevation of 500 meters. This charming winery spans 11 hectares, surrounded by lush pine forests, oaks, and aromatic shrubs like rosemary and heather. The Relat River gracefully flows through the estate, enhancing its natural beauty. In 2016, Les Acacies joined the DO Pla de Bages, marking its commitment to producing high-quality, artisan wines.

Les Acacies offers a selection of exclusive natural wines that showcase the essence of the region.

Artisan Natural Wines

Les Acacies is dedicated to crafting exceptional natural wines. The winery employs a meticulous approach to winemaking, ensuring that each bottle reflects the unique terroir of the Bages region. The vineyard primarily cultivates Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Merlot, and Syrah, allowing for a diverse range of flavors and aromas. The wines are crafted without artificial additives, preserving their freshness and fruitiness, even in the warm climate of Catalonia.

Micro Vinification for Unique Flavors

At Les Acacies, attention to detail is paramount. The winery utilizes a micro vinification process, which allows for small-batch production and a focus on quality. This method enhances the expression of each grape variety and its terroir, resulting in wines that are rich in character and complexity. French oak barrels are used for aging select wines, imparting subtle balsamic and spicy notes. For other ranges, cement tanks, ovoids, and amphorae are employed to refine tannins and enhance floral aromas. The outcome is a collection of wines that offer a remarkable mouthfeel and depth.

It is defined as "the smallest winery in the world". The guided tour of the Núria is worth it. A beautiful setting with a lovely tasting room.

I went this Sunday 26.03.23 with my family, at 12 noon. A rewarding experience, the place super beautiful and the tasting and the aperitif exquisite. The wines were very good, the Guide Sandra was very kind and explained everything about Les Acacies very well. We will return.

We have visited this winery classified as the smallest in the world. It is a private estate very well located surrounded by vineyards. They give you the explanation of how they want to grow and evolve, leaving their comfort zone. They seek to recover the native varieties of the area, they are processes that are not slow, but visionary. We took a small tour of the vineyards. We entered the smallest winery in the world and went to do the tasting. They gave us three wines to try with sticks. The wines are of the new varieties. It's nice and simple, you have to give them a couple of years to see how the new wines develop.

It is said that big projects start from small things and visionary ideas. It is said that stepping out of your comfort zone forces you to react and therefore achieve higher goals. At Le Acacie, the smallest winery in the World, I believe we can find all this, the idea, the evolution and the discovery. I love projects that become entrepreneurial realities and I love the countryside that welcomes these pearls. A wonderful place, bucolic and full of imagination, the cellar tells its story and the manager tells you what they wanted to do and what they will do. Spectacular interiors, in a mix of modern antiques full of history, crown the concept, returning to making wine in an area that had been converted to something else. From the need of a single person to a reality for many. There is still a lot to do, to find one's own spaces, one's own flavors and one's own way of communicating it, but I see a beautiful road made of flavours, ideas and madness. As for the visit, pleasant and full of liveliness, as for the cata, I recommend adding a fourth wine (the placemat has four circles...) with something that is more understandable to the palate. A merlot and shiraz red, it would have been perfect to get to the end. Not particularly refined wines, fresh, in Italian we would say "drinkable", simple on the palate and on the nose. The special edition wine is complex, but it's a risk you can take, the more you drink it, the more you would drink it. Young cellar, worth exploring again. Thanks for visiting.

We went to visit the Celler Les Acàcies and took the opportunity to taste their wines. We really liked it, very good quality and price and the wines are D.O. del Bages with a very personal touch. Great Cellar! In addition, the place is very beautiful and surrounded by nature, you can hear the birds singing and the water flowing through the Relat River. Sandra's service and explanation of 10! 100% recommended. We didn't know their wines and 3 of us stayed because of their quality!
