Podere Ema, Authentic and Pure Tuscan Wines

Podere Ema arose from a desire to share years of passion, knowledge, and love for Tuscan wines. The company makes excellent wines from just local grapes, reinforcing and enhancing the concept of "Puro Toscano." The grapes are the result of years of research with the University of Florence to rediscover and improve typical indigenous varieties with a history of more than 300 years.

The Indigenous Variety of Grape

Foglia Tonda is one of many indigenous Tuscan varietals that have been lost to time. This vine has been traced throughout history, most recently in the middle of 1800, when it was identified among over three thousand varieties of vines. Foglia Tonda was subsequently replaced by "easier" or more well-known variations on a global scale until it was rediscovered and brought back to its true value in the 1970s. It is a robust plant with huge pyramidal clusters that prefers the Chianti region and develops later than its nearest relative, Sangiovese. The wines made from this variety are limited and are of inestimable value.

Award Winning Wines in Unique Bottles

Podere Ema Wines are a genuine product that reflects the diversity of the Tuscan landscape. They are the output of the vines' typicality and territoriality, rigorous harvest selection, and a meticulous procedure carried out in their own cellar. The high-quality wine products are generated in a limited number of bottles. Podere Ema Wines ensure excellence, exclusivity, and individuality. They have won numerous awards for their excellence in winemaking.

We had an amazing wine tasting and snacks at Podere Ema. Natalia was a wonderful host and really took great care of us. She was terrific. We tasted 5 different wines and all of them were excellent. So much so that we're shipping some to the US. I've done many wine tastings all over the world, and this was really one of the top ones. Great wine, nice intimate facility and Natalia is very good at what she does.

My fianceé and I are celebrating our honeymoon in Italy, and this was by far one of the best experiences we’ve had in our 10 days here. The service was immaculate. We were given a private tour with so much information on how wine is made, and we were able to taste (not exaggerating) the BEST wine we’ve ever had. If you have an opportunity to visit Podere Ema, it is unmissable in my opinion.

Because we were staying in Firenze, we took the bike to see a bit of the Chianti region. On the beautiful SR222 this place is the first, a bit hidden (watch the signs), winemaker you meet where you can taste Chianti Wine. With splendid views of the Tuscan Hills! Lovely people who take their time to explain the wines. We loved the premium wine tasting and we especially enjoyed the Fogliatonda "Roundleaf" wine and the Nocchino, loosely translated "Knucklehead", wine. It was quite a climb by bike but worth it. On the way back to Firenze it's all downhill anyways! We even got the wine safe to our camper! Thanks for the help, Podere Ema!

Amazing place! During our visit we were the only visitors, so we get personal walk around excursion and learn many new things about wine making. Staff speaks great English, so for us it was really easy to understand. Wine tasting part was well organized. Tasty wine and cuttings, just what you need during hot summer day.

I had the great fortune of spending time at Podere Ema for a tour of the facility and a tasting of several of their wines. I was especially grateful to be shown around by the founder, Enrico Calvelli, and to be served the delicious wines by Sara Calvelli. Everyone in the world knows Chianti and Chianti Classico wines. I doubt many will know Foglia Tonda and wines made from other rare local grape varietals. I recommend this winery for anyone interested in learning more about local wines in a beautiful setting, with beautiful people. Our tour was incredibly informative and we learned so much about the Chianti region and the wine making process. The wine was some of the best we’ve had and they made the shipping process back to the states so easy! Would highly recommend
