The Joy of Harvesting

Harvest means the harvest of wine grapes, a clear and exhaustive enunciation, which nevertheless fails to convey the load of emotions that this period of the year represents for us winemakers, a particularly delicate moment which, a little romantically, could be compared to the moment of the birth of a child.

Harvesting in Poggio alla Rocca

Pursuing in this metaphor, if the harvest is the birth, all that precedes it is the gestation. Both processes such as sprouting, fruit set and growth of the leaves and fruits, are perfectly accomplished by Mother Nature herself; both operations such as dry pruning, tying, closing of rows and philosanitary treatments, if and when necessary, carried out by man instead, are essential preliminary activities, essential for reaching the best way to harvest the grapes and immediate processing with which the must is obtained which, once fermented, will in turn be transformed into wine. Although cyclical, the harvest is not an automatic process, always the same. On the contrary, each gestation is a story in itself. The climatic trend greatly affects the quantity and quality of the fruit. Each vintage presents specific problems that must be faced and overcome thanks to the experience gained. Precisely for this reason, the good winemaker interprets and anticipates the trend of the season, to prepare himself in time for any eventuality. Poggio alla Rocca we are now perfectly able to make the most of our vineyards, regardless of the leniency of the weather.

The vineyards of Poggio alla Rocca face south-west, in front of Montalcino, on marly limestone soils rich in minerals. the ancient Chianti recipe includes the following vines: Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo (red 13.5%). malvasia and trebbiano (white 12.5%)

We had a fantastic experience at Poggio alla Rocca, the agriturismo is wonderful, beyond expectations, cared for in every detail, with a swimming pool in front of a breathtaking view: in short, a true earthly paradise both during the day and in the evening. The owners Francesco and Susanna were very kind and helpful: they made us feel at home. An experience to try and try again. Gilberto and Martina

An enchanting paradise nestled in the Tuscan hills! The farmhouse is divided into different terraces, with each space organized down to the smallest detail and offering unparalleled hospitality. The panoramic pool and the outdoor lounges for each room and the common areas are beautiful. When night falls, the most romantic moment arrives: a starry sky that is unparalleled. With your nose raised, you can clearly see the Milky Way, a rarity in a place so close to civilization. Very nice rooms, impeccable cleanliness and extremely courteous staff. They made us feel at home. EXTREMELY RECOMMENDED

*** The Terrace of Infinity in the Tuscan Maremma *** Located between two nature reserves, it offers absolute tranquility for those looking for relaxation and contact with nature. Swimming pool with breathtaking views; a dominant position over the Tuscan hills and a panorama as far as the eye can see. The structure is newly built but in typical local style, with attention to detail and great visual impact. Kitchenette equipped with all kitchen utensils, modern and spacious bathroom, large and comfortable bed, Smart TV with the possibility of accessing the most famous streaming platforms thanks to excellent Wi-Fi. It really has everything. The real highlight, however, are the owners of the structure. They welcomed us with a bottle of house wine and some oil of their own production. From then on they were very attentive but discreet, making us feel at home with an attention that is difficult to find in other accommodations. The smile and kindness of Francesco and Susanna are worth the trip! PS: Recommended for those who, like me, have motor disabilities. The apartments and the swimming pool are easily accessible.

I was there for a weekend with my girlfriend in September to unplug from the classic frenetic life in the city. The place is aesthetically magnificent, like few others I have seen, there is a peace and silence almost "from another world". But what makes the difference is the extreme cordiality, kindness and availability of the two owners who were ready to respond to our every need with a smile. The apartment that was assigned to us was equipped with everything we needed, and even the kitchen inside had everything we have in our homes. I will return again, again and again. Highly recommended.

This place was the "coup de Coeur" of our entire trip in Italy. Francesco and Suzanna were very hospitable, even offering us a bottle of their homemade wine which was delicious! The place itself is absolutely stunning, offering breathtaking views. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the pool overlooking the Tuscan landscape both mornings and finished our evenings admiring the colorful sunset sky during our dinner at the table beside the pool. We regret not having stayed longer as we would have loved to spend a day or two simply relaxing by the pool. A few things to note, Poggio Alla Rocca is truly a secluded area and there are no restaurants, shops nearby. We recommend picking up your dinner while in a nearby village and bringing it back to enjoy the views while dining. The apartment is very nice and clean. Bring your own shampoo and body wash, if you are missing anything else simply ask Francesco and Suzanna! Also getting to the location you must go up a bit of a steep and tight gravel road. All of which were no issue for us. Highly recommend staying here, do not hesitate, just book! Will definitely without a doubt be returning when in Tuscany. Grazie mille!!

Paradise. What can I say: a real wonder! I just spent a few days here with my boyfriend and everything was special. From arrival to departure. The point where Poggio alla Rocca is located is certainly unique: a fascinating view wherever you look and always, even at night! We even managed to see the Milky Way! Immersed in greenery and in total silence, it is a regenerating place! Everything is kept in an orderly, clean and meticulous manner. From the swimming pool, through the numerous outdoor relaxation areas, to the apartments. We stayed in Alba: the spaces are very well organized, bright, equipped with all the necessary equipment to prepare food and with an independent entrance that makes you feel really away from it all. The presence of a table is also perfect for eating outdoors and enjoying the landscape! What enters the heart, however, in addition to all the landscape and relaxation offered by Poggio alla Rocca, are its owners: Susanna and Francesco. When we were twenty we felt like family: welcomed and treated as if we had known each other forever. The care, attention, help, kindness and generosity make the days at Poggio alla Rocca truly unique! These are two people you don't often meet, in an equally unique place. We will definitely be back... because we already miss them!
