The John and Mike Favre winery pinpoint itself in the heart of Valais in the town of Chamoson. The vineyard spreads over the 8 hectares of the vine with a high production capacity of up to 50,000 bottles per year. The Favre family has been always on cultivated vines like most of the Valais family and wine production has been initiated in 1946. The traditional approach of vine cultivation mixed with modern techniques and skills in wine production has been a prime factor in elegant and tasty wines.

The vineyard of the Favre family is truly a spectacular and unique sight to watch. The Vineyard is easily noticeable by the ways vines are cultivated. The system of farming vines in two tight rows and one taller row is not just visually pleasing but also for increasing productiveness. This style of plantation provides the configuration and specialized machine to better reach access to vines. A machine removes leaves that lead to increased air circulation preventing various vine diseases. The Favre family has been using the traditional approach with the twist of modernization to increase the harvest and taste of wine.

Traditional Vinification among the Vintage Red and White Wines

The Favre winery is most popular and renowned for its red and white wine blended from the plump noble grape varieties like Pinot Noir and Petite Arvine. They applauded for the tasty wines heard even beyond the border of Valais. The grapes from the rocky vineyards produce wines that represent the terroir of Valais. The average age of vineyards is 90 years and around 15000 vines per hectare contribute to the grape harvest of the Favre winery.

Visiting John & Mike Favre Winery in St. Pierre-de-Clages (Chamoson) is an absolute must for any wine lover. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed with genuine local hospitality and a passion for winemaking that shines through in every glass. The wines are delicious and lively, showcasing some of the best of the region with a perfect balance of terroir, craftsmanship, and character. Whether you're tasting their refined whites or beautifully structured reds, each bottle reflects the dedication and expertise behind it. If you're looking for top-tier Swiss wines and an authentic, welcoming experience, John & Mike Favre Winery is the place to go. And if you're organized, and what a truly unique experience, ask about the raclette experience in the vineyards. Must be 6 or more to organize. Cheers!

I had the opportunity to taste 2 of their AOC Valais wines: Their Gamay and their Sauvignon blanc. If you are looking for a white that is sweet but not cloying, I recommend this Sauvignon. A pure marvel! Thanks to Mike for his authenticity, his sympathy and for his availability. Looking forward to coming soon with a team for a tasting.

Without doubt, the best cellar in Valais! You will be welcomed like you will never be anywhere else. The staff and the Favre family will introduce you to their wines and their Grands Crus in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Don't hesitate to stop there, you won't be disappointed!
