Biodynamic winemaking in Tuscany
The Stefano Amerighi is a biodynamic winery in the Tuscany region. The farm was born out of the wish to make the best Syrah wine using old family traditions, values, and passion. The owner chose an area named Poggiobello di Farneta that has two well-exposed hills. This area is suitable for the cultivation of Syrah grape that is personally selected by the owner in Valle del Rodano. Another important aim of the company is to make use of organic and biodynamic practices at the winery.
Pruning in harmony with nature
The pruning and other agricultural work take place in accordance with lunar phases. There is minimal use of copper and sulfur to defend the soil. The biodynamic methods allow the strengthening of soil even during the cold season. With the help of collaborators, the winery has made Cortona DOC red wines at a larger scale.
Apart from the wines, the owner also overlooks the cultivation of fruits, vegetables and breeding of animals
A long maturity ensures great wines
The biodynamic work allows healthy grapes, and the winemaking is totally free of chemicals and additives. After the destemming of grapes, pressing done by feet just like old times. The workers manually place the grapes into small concrete tanks, where fermentation takes place without sulfur and selected yeasts. The wines age for 44 months in cement and wood before being bottled. The winery is dedicated to promoting sustainable, biodynamic agriculture. Even the wines are natural and have the perfect balance and taste that reminds of the terroir of the region.
