The Triasso-Sassella Winery

Situated in the picturesque Valtellina Superior DOCG region, the quaint village of Triasso is a testament to the enduring Valtellinese winemaking tradition. The Triasso-Sassella Winery is dedicated to preserving this heritage while nurturing its stunning vineyards and surrounding landscape. The winery produces three distinct wines: Sassi Solivi, Ciazz, and Sassi Solivi Riserva, each reflecting the passion and commitment of the Triasso and Sassella Agricultural Cooperative. This cooperative works diligently to protect the rich peasant culture and the meticulously crafted terraces that have been cultivated by generations of ancestors.

Vineyards at the Winery

The winery boasts two hectares of vineyards located at an elevation of approximately 500 meters above sea level, characterized by terraced, rocky terrain. The region's mild microclimate and limited rainfall create ideal conditions for cultivating Nebbiolo grapes, known for their robust flavor and aromatic profile. The vineyard practices include manual pruning, maintaining two fruit heads, and limiting the number of buds to enhance grape quality. Harvesting is done by hand, using baskets or boxes, to preserve the unique characteristics of the grapes, tailored to the specific wine being produced.

Great experience! Luca and Matteo transmit, with the freshness of their age, the passion that their parents instilled in them! They explained to us the entire process they follow to make their wine. A pleasant discovery.

Wonderful tour & tasting experience; very intimate and authentic. One of the owners walked us through the cellar and we were able to taste one varietal through 3 stages of development (in the vault, in a stainless steel container, after being bottled). What an excellent example of local wine production! Will be sourcing this vineyard from distributors in the US.
