A Legacy of Winemaking in the Heart of Mosel Since the 15th Century
Martin Conrad Winery: A Tradition of Excellence
Established in 1558, the Martin Conrad wine estate is located in the picturesque Brauneberg holiday resort along the Moselle River. Winemaker Martin Conrad took the helm in 1998, continuing a proud family tradition that spans 14 generations. The estate's 5.5 hectares of vineyards are predominantly planted with Riesling, which accounts for about 95% of the vineyard area, while the remaining 5% is dedicated to Pinot Blanc.
The winery's prime site is the renowned “Brauneberger Juffer” vineyard, complemented by the larger “Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr” vineyard.
Exceptional Rieslings from Unique Terroir
The slate soil of the Moselle region imparts a distinctive character to the wines produced here. Martin Conrad winery specializes in organic Rieslings that showcase the terroir's true essence, featuring vibrant fruit flavors, elegant minerality, and complex aromas. Since 2019, the winery has embraced 100% organic practices in both the vineyard and cellar. Grapes are hand-harvested, undergo spontaneous fermentation, and are crafted without enzymes, ensuring a vegan-friendly process. Their wines are well-regarded by discerning wine enthusiasts and are featured in prestigious restaurants, including GERANIUM *** in Denmark and ALOIS ** at Dallmayr in Munich.
Wine Tasting Experience
At Martin Conrad winery, fermentation relies on natural yeast strains rather than commercial yeasts or enzymes. The wines are categorized into three distinct lines. The first includes pure vintage wines meant for immediate enjoyment. The second features layered wines crafted from low yields sourced from the exceptional slate slopes. The top tier, known as Goldkapsel (golden bottle cap), includes the finest dry and fine-dry site wines, as well as exquisite sweet selections like berry selection, dry berry selection, and ice wines.
