A Rich History at Château Capion

Château Capion boasts a storied history that dates back to the sixteenth century. For generations, the Keittinger family has nurtured this estate, which is enveloped by lush vineyards, olive trees, and serene forests across more than 45 hectares. A charming stream, the Gassac, flows through the property, adding to its picturesque landscape.

The Unique Terroir of Southern France

The vineyard's soils consist of sandstone, Montpellier clays, and limestone gravels, often arranged in terraces. Renowned geology expert Claude Bourguignon collaborates with the winemakers at Château Capion to craft exceptional wines. The vineyard practices traditional methods, avoiding machinery to enhance grape selection and complexity. Varieties such as Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault are cultivated for red wines, while Viognier, Chardonnay, Roussanne, Clairette, and Grenache Blanc are grown for whites. With an average vineyard age of 30 years, the wines exhibit richness and complexity while maintaining vibrant fruit flavors.

A Relaxing Atmosphere Awaits

Situated in the heart of the Hérault Valley, Château Capion offers a peaceful retreat for wine enthusiasts. The friendly sommeliers invite you to the winery's tasting room for an enjoyable wine tasting experience. Participate in cultural events or unwind in the castle's garden, where you can relax under the shade of lime trees, cedars, pines, and plane trees. This tranquil setting is perfect for those looking to savor the essence of southern French wines.
