How to Reach Wineries in Vinho Verde

Wineries in Vinho Verde are easily accessible by different means of transportation. 

The two closest airports to the Vinho Verde wine region and its wineries are Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto (OPO), located more or less 60km away, and Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ) in Spain. This second airport is a bit more far away (170/200km) but it’s very practical if you want to enjoy a drive along the coast between Spain and Portugal before reaching wineries in Vinho Verde.

If you visit the Vinho Verde wine region by car, always follow indications towards Porto/Oporto. All the wineries in Vinho Verde are located to the north of Portugal’s second biggest city. Once you enter the Vinho Verde wine region, follow the Vinho Verde Route that drives all across the Minho region and follows the Vouga river. This route will lead you to discover wineries in Vinho Verde.

Vinho Verde is a very vast wine region that includes several cities that can be all reached by train. The main one is Porto’s station, but if you want to get closer to wineries in Vinho Verde, you can take a train to Viana do Castelo and enjoy some fresh Ocean breeze; or you can travel to Barcelos or Guimarāes.
