A Premier Wine Producer in Alentejo, Portugal
Our Story
Azamor Wines began when Alison met her future husband in England while pursuing their MBAs. After two years, they married, and Alison relocated to Portugal. Eager to learn Portuguese and embrace her new life, she took charge of a stunning 25-hectare vineyard near the historic village of Vila Viçosa, known for its 17th-century palace of the Bragança dynasty. The estate boasts breathtaking natural beauty and expansive views towards Spain.
Crafting Azamor Wines
While managing the vineyard, Alison earned a Master’s degree in enology and began crafting Azamor wines. She discovered her innate talent for winemaking, producing elegant, balanced wines with a soft, velvety mouthfeel. Committed to sustainability, she practices minimal intervention in both the vineyard and winery, prioritizing natural resources and engaging local communities. AZAMOR wines are known for their fruity complexity, elegance, and soft tannins.
Azamor Vineyards
Established in 2001 and 2002, the Azamor vineyard spans 25 hectares at an elevation of 350 meters, oriented north-south. The unique planting density of 2.2m by 0.9m results in a leaf area per hectare that is double the national average. The vineyard features four indigenous Portuguese grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Trincadeira, and Alicante Bouschet, alongside three international varieties: Syrah, Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
