Borovitza, Artisan Winery Located in the Village of Borovitza

The BOROVITZA is a small artisan winery located in the village of Borovitza, present near the city of Belogradchik. It was founded when Adriana Serebrinova and Ognyan Tzvetanov, two renowned Bulgarian winemakers with more than 60 years of experience in viticulture, joined forces. The main goal of the winery is to make limited quantities of wines with great character that reflects the qualities of their terroir in Northwestern Bulgaria. After five years of barrel aging in the winery, they released a fine wine named DUX in 2008 that shows there focus on the neglected and forgotten lands of the country. A limited-edition sparkling wine Ognyan Tzvetanov Premiere Cuvee, is also released. The wines are naturally made and express the features of the best locations in the country.

Spectacular Grapes by the Winery

Their vineyards are present mainly in two locations. The first location is present right above the winery while the other one is close to the village of Gradetc, around 10 miles north to the Danube port town of Vidin. The region has red sandy soil and extensive mountains, herbs, flowers, and rocks. The unique microclimate, along with the soils, makes the region perfect for growing high-quality grapes. The owners are obsessed with making distinct wines and use traditional viticulture techniques to achieve their goals. The main grape types that grow in their vineyards are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Rousanne, Marsanne, Viognier, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Fume Blanc, Gamza, Syrah, Bouquet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Gamay Noir, Merlot, Pamid. The grapes are processed to make their exquisite red, white, rose, sparkling, dessert, and fortified wines.
