Artisan Winery Crafting Unique Natural Wines in Thracian Valley
Borovitza Winery: A Hidden Gem in Bulgaria
Located in the picturesque village of Borovitza, near Belogradchik, Borovitza Winery is a small artisan establishment founded by two esteemed Bulgarian winemakers, Adriana Serebrinova and Ognyan Tzvetanov. With over 60 years of combined experience in viticulture, their mission is to produce limited quantities of wines that truly reflect the unique terroir of Northwestern Bulgaria. In 2008, they introduced DUX, a fine wine that highlights the potential of the region's neglected lands. Additionally, they offer a limited-edition sparkling wine, Ognyan Tzvetanov Premiere Cuvee, showcasing their commitment to natural winemaking without preservatives.
Exceptional Grapes from Unique Vineyards
The winery's vineyards are situated in two prime locations: one directly above the winery and the other near the village of Gradetc, approximately 10 miles north of the Danube port town of Vidin. The region's red sandy soil, combined with its diverse mountains, herbs, and flowers, creates an ideal microclimate for cultivating high-quality grapes. Borovitza Winery focuses on traditional viticulture techniques to produce distinctive wines. The vineyards feature a variety of grape types, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Rousanne, Marsanne, Viognier, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Fume Blanc, Gamza, Syrah, Bouquet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Gamay Noir, Merlot, and Pamid. These grapes are crafted into exquisite red, white, rosé, sparkling, dessert, and fortified wines, each reflecting the essence of their origins.
