A Legacy of Winemaking in Tuscany
Two Centuries of Winemaking Tradition
Casale Daviddi's story began over 200 years ago in the picturesque hills of Montepulciano, when Giustino Daviddi pursued his passion for viticulture. What started as a modest production of a few thousand bottles has blossomed into a thriving winery. Today, Casale Daviddi stands as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Daviddi family, whose love for the land and its grapes has shaped their legacy.
A Family Heritage of Passion
The roots of Azienda Agricola Casale Daviddi trace back to the early 1800s, with Giustino Daviddi's commitment to winemaking. A cherished "strettoio," or traditional press, serves as a reminder of their humble beginnings. Over generations, the family has passed down their knowledge and skills, culminating in the current stewardship of Giustino's great-grandson.
Vineyard Growth and Production
Under the guidance of Aldimaro Daviddi, the family has transformed viticulture into their primary focus. Together with his family, he has nurtured their 20-hectare vineyard in Valiano di Montepulciano, increasing production to approximately 80,000 bottles annually. This growth reflects their commitment to quality and tradition.
Our Winemaking Process
At Casale Daviddi, we prioritize quality in our winemaking. We utilize French and Slavonian oak barrels for optimal aging, adhering to both traditional and modern techniques. Our vineyards are meticulously cultivated, with around 4,000 vines per hectare, employing the “Guyot” and “Cordone speronato” training systems. Each hectare yields about 70 quintals of grapes, ensuring a rich and flavorful wine.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil: A Tuscan Treasure
The Daviddi family also cherishes the art of olive oil production. Our olive groves feature traditional varieties such as Leccino, Frantoio, and Moraiolo. We cold-extract our extra virgin olive oil within 24 hours of harvesting, preserving its fresh aroma and rich flavor profile. This oil embodies the essence of Tuscan tradition and is a staple in our culinary heritage.
