Where wine making practices are passed down from father to son.
The Family Story of Clos Triguedina
Clos Triguedina has been the cradle of the Baldes family since 1830. The primary foundation is the knowledge, determination, and passion that has been passed on from father to son. This pioneering spirit has led them to be one of the founding families in the Cahors wine region. Etienne Baldes planted his first plots of Cahors vines at Clos Triguedina in 1830, having identified the best terraces of the Lot Valley. The vines were heavily affected by the phylloxera epidemic in 1977, but was quickly replanted. Protected by its microclimate it was only partially affected by the severe frosts of 1956. As a result it has been able to preserve relatively old vines for the top of the range growths.
Wine Making at Clos Triguedina
Situated in the heart of the Cahors wine region, to the southwest of the town of Cahors, the Clos Triguedina estate covers over 70 hectares in the lush green lot valley. Its clay and limestone soil is similar to that of the Pomerol wine region, ideal for wine production of classed growth status. The vines of the Clos Triguedina estate are planted over four communes, each with potential for the production of top-quality wines.
