The History of Domaine du Chalet Pouilly
Domaine du Chalet Pouilly is located in Solutré Pouilly and has been owned by the Plumet Family since 1850 when they planted the first vines. Over time, the family became a mid-scale producer of white wines in Burgundy. In 1928, Joseph and Philippine Plumet won the first prize for Burgundian wines at the Mâcon Wine Competition. When he inherited the estate in 1950, Henri Plumet worked hard to make Domaine du Chalet Pouilly a top winery. They have won many awards and achievements, which brought the winery worldwide recognition.
Domaine du Chalet Pouilly, the Owners’ Passion for Winemaking
In 1983, Henri’s daughter Marie-Agnès Plumet and her husband Bernard Léger inherited the family business. Due to their passion and interest in winemaking, they changed their profession from being doctors to winemakers. To grow the winery business, Dr. Léger completed his degree in Oenology. Marie-Agnès also got an agricultural certificate in 2004. They respect the terroir and follow traditional winegrowing approaches that help create flavor-rich Chardonnays with a rustic touch. Currently, the winery produces around 50,000 bottles annually. The family exports their amazing wines to countries all over the world. Domaine du Chalet Pouilly has received the “Haute Valeur Environnementale” certification and the Pouilly-Fuisse and Saint-Veran 2018 and 2019 vintage wines have been certified vegan.
