Domaine Lerys, a Family Run Boutique Winery in Villeneuve Les Corbieres Since 1861
The Domaine Lerys is a family wine estate present in Villeneuve les Corbieres since 1861. It is located in the Fitou appellation, one of the oldest in Languedoc’s AOC Rouge. Winemaking started again at the domain in 1994. The eighth generation of the family, Alban Izard, exploits 50 hectares of vines with organic agriculture and produces 4 AOCs, Rivesaltes, Corbieres, Fitou, and Muscat de Rivesaltes. There is a lot of love and respect for the soil, flora, fauna, and biodiversity of the region. The combination of traditional values with modern and innovative methods in the old vineyards allows them to make wines with great taste and aroma.
Discover Amazing Natural Wines
The location in South France, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea, is exceptional. The microclimate features mild and humid winters with dry summers. The wind blows continuously, and there is low rainfall all year around. The terroir has shale soil, which provides natural strength to the vines. All these conditions are perfect for organic viticulture and help to grow healthy and fruity grapes. The main grape varietals that they grow are Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan. Almost all of the work at the estate takes place manually. Harvesting generally begins in September and goes on for 4 to 5 weeks. Different vinification techniques are used in the cellar depending on the wines. After fermentation, the wines are aged in barrels or vats stored in stone buildings with natural thermal insulation. Their love for the vines and nature can be appreciated in each bottle of their wines.
