Experience the Rich Heritage of a Tuscan Winery and Olive Grove
The Origin Story of Fattoria Santo Stefano
Fattoria Santo Stefano takes its name from the nearby church, Santo Stefano a Collegalle, located in the picturesque Greve in Chianti. Established in 1916, the estate has been a family-run vineyard under the stewardship of the Bendinelli Family. Mauro Bendinelli, the founder, dedicated his life to cultivating authentic wines and olives. Today, his legacy continues with his children, Elena and her brother, who have been managing the winery since 2000, upholding the traditions of Chianti Classico. Nestled on a hilltop near Florence, Fattoria Santo Stefano is renowned for its exceptional wines, cherished by locals and visitors alike.
A Passion for Olive Groves
Mauro's love for olive cultivation led to the establishment of the estate's olive grove. Each November, the olives are hand-harvested and promptly pressed at the mill. This cold extraction process, combined with the careful timing of the harvest, results in a unique extra virgin olive oil characterized by a fresh, slightly spicy flavor and a vibrant green hue with golden reflections. The oil is stored in stainless steel tanks after filtration, preserving its nutritional properties and ensuring high quality. Fattoria Santo Stefano's olive oil is a true testament to the rich agricultural heritage of Tuscany.
