Inspired by Sakar's terroir and wines, the Czech investor Petr Belec realized his idea of becoming part of the whole process from the birth of the grapes to the bottle of wine through the creation of Rosalea. It all started in 2016 with the planting of the vineyard in the village of Shishmanovo — not only as an investment but as a connection with nature, with the terroir, with the people of Sakar. Inspired by the Roman feast Rosalia, Peter's wife, Zuzanne, gave the name Rosalea.
Rosalea grows 100 decares of vineyards on the gentle slopes of Sakar, not far from the town of Harmanli, with the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Chardonnay, Mavrud and Rubin. With a dedicated small team of young professionals, their precision and individual approach are invested throughout
the years. Everyone experiments together through the care and growing of the vines, learning patience and perseverance.
As a continuation of its passion and strive for rediscovery, Rosalea's team focuses on growing and vinifying other Bulgarian and Balkan varieties. Everyone at Rosalea believes that perseverance and patience are important in wine creation, and they are moving forward step by step.
Every wine has a story. It starts with the grapes and their environment, and turns into a collection of stories focused on growth, transformation and experimentation. Rosalea collects these stories, inspired by the balance between human and nature, with wine being the middle ground between these two worlds. We’d like to share our winemaking experience from the Sakar region to the public — from soil to bottle. Every wine has a story. Let us inspire yours.
