Located in Calmasino di Bardolino, just 25 km from Verona, Tenuta La Cà is a vibrant winery and farmhouse run by brothers Pietro and Aldo. Spanning 15 hectares on the picturesque morainic hills near Lake Garda, this relatively young winery combines a love for winemaking with a commitment to the land. With backgrounds in design and finance from Milan and London, the brothers bring a unique, creative approach to their winemaking, grounded in scientific principles.
The vineyards, situated only 600 meters from the winery, benefit from five distinct soil types and optimal sunlight exposure, nourished by natural aquifers. The winery operates entirely on biological processes, hand-harvesting grapes from each parcel and meticulously selecting them for vinification. Using the drop method, they allow gravity to guide the grapes, avoiding mechanical pumps and preserving the integrity of the fruit.
At Tenuta La Cà, creativity meets tradition with a blend of local and international grape varieties. The vineyard cultivates Traminer, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Garganega, Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Lagrein. These grapes are crafted into a diverse range of wines, including red, white, rosé, and sparkling options. Notable selections from their collection include Bardolino Classico DOC, Veneto IGT Rosso, and Veneto IGT Bianco. By prioritizing natural methods over technology, they enhance the quality of their raw materials, resulting in wines that reflect the essence of their terroir.

Write a reviewWe did the tasting with Giulia in January. We are two friends who went on holiday from Spain and we loved the experience. We were lucky that Giulia was encouraged to do her first tasting in Spanish, as she speaks it perfectly. It was a good thing to meet her, she was very attentive and friendly, we felt at home throughout the visit. We loved the wine, but the winery's working concept made us even more so, where home is above all. We will definitely return and it is an experience that we recommend 100%.

I share my experience and this estate. I did the tasting with my wife and we were attended by a super knowledgeable and friendly girl, we had a great time with her and even during the tour of the winery she was very thorough. Good wine, in fact you buy 3 bottles. Highly recommended.

I have been to several wine tastings, and this experience was by far the best one I’ve ever had. Julia, our guide, was amazing. She ensured that we felt at home. Specifically, the way she explained the wine—its histories, contemporary processes, family stories—created an atmosphere that left me feeling informed, but also connected to the space. I felt as if I was now a part of this story, a story listener that can carry forward what I’ve learned about wine, people, and place. As a professor who consistently foregrounds story as an entry point to science, to knowledge, and to community, this experience affected me on a personal and intellectual level, something I never thought possible with wine as a focal point. So, thank you to Julia for this experience, and thank you to Tenuta La Ca for existing. I will be back!
