La Cà Calis Estate

Tenuta La Cà: A Modern Winery in Veneto  

An international red wine from Calmasino near Lake Garda, made mainly from Merlot (under 70%) with Cabernet Franc and Corvina grapes. The vines grow on morainic, loamy, medium-textured calcareous soil at 150m altitude. Certified organic viticulture is practiced, with manual harvest in late September and early October. Grapes are partly whole and uncrushed, fermented in steel tanks with indigenous yeasts and daily pumping over. The wine is aged for 18 months in large French and Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a month in steel tanks before bottling according to the lunar calendar.
