Vins El Cep was a Union of Four Winegrower Families
Vins El Cep was born thanks to the union of four families of winegrowers in 1448. The company has been making high-quality cavas and unique wines that express the terroir and winemaking. The winery based in Costers del Anoia of the Penedes region is a pioneer in biodynamic and organic viticulture. All members of the staff work hard to maintain the perfect harmony between nature and winemaking. Vineyards started growing around 500 years ago and have a long-lasting legacy.
Parage Cualificado Old Vineyards
Most of the old vines are located in the hills of Anoia and have a strong personality that is needed to make terroir-driven wines. They have vineyards of Parage Cualificado, which are 70% of old vineyards. The local varieties of grapes grown here are Tempranillo, Parellada, Macabeo, and Xarel-Lo. Non-native grapes like Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon also grow. Red, white, rose, and sparkling wines are made here.
Work and Achievements of the Winery
The winery belongs to the Vinya Celler Masia association, which brings together families of winegrowers who own their winery and farmhouse and produce only with their own grapes. The company has BIOSPHERE and ANPHORY certificates for sustainability and environmental commitment. The winery works with solar energy. Each grape variety is vinified separately in small vats. The cavas and wines are bottled during the early months of the year, and ageing takes place in oak barrels at the desired temperature. This gives finesse and authenticity to their wines.
