Winery of the Week: iDivini

A Belgian Heart Beating in the Hills of Monferrato

Nestled in the picturesque Monferrato hills of Piedmont, a UNESCO World Heritage area blanketed in ancient vineyards, lies iDivini winery. Founded in 2018 by the dynamic duo Koen and Anna, iDivini seamlessly blends their lively, international entrepreneurial spirit with the profound local winemaking expertise of their staff.

IDivini

The story of iDivini truly comes to life in its vineyards, featuring venerable 50 to 65-year-old vines, strategically located right beside the winery in the charming town of Isola d’Asti, just a stone's throw from Asti itself. This close connection ensures every bottle reflects the unique terroir.

As an artisanal winery, iDivini is dedicated to crafting fine wines with unique character. Their philosophy revolves around respecting the roots of the vineyard and championing both autochthonous and sometimes forgotten grape varieties from the region. The main varietals they work with include Barbera, Freisa, Cortese, Pinot Nero, and Nebbiolo. iDivini embraces an "international perspective" on winemaking, constantly exploring innovative "out-of-the-box wines."

For those eager to dive into the world of Piedmontese wine - visiting iDivini is a sensory journey.

iDivini offers a range of engaging experiences designed to immerse visitors: Discover Piemonte: A White Wine Experience focuses on the meticulous process of white winemaking. Guests will learn about pressing, cooling, and oak aging before enjoying a tasting of exceptional white wines, including their Vino Spumante di Qualità, two distinct Cortese wines, Sauvignon Blanc, and even a white Vermouth.

The Many Faces of Barbera: Tasting & Winery Tour delves into the versatility of the Barbera grape, showcasing its expressions from fresh and vibrant to rich and long-aged. Guests will explore Barbera's role in blends and its transformation into an elegant Vermouth Rosso di Torino. The tour includes a deep dive into red winemaking, focusing on Barbera d'Asti DOCG wines, with a tasting of four Barbera wines and a Vermouth Rosso di Torino.
