Most of the wineries in Lower Austria use the following grape varieties in wine production:
Red Varieties: Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Blaukrankisch
White Varieties: Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay
Wineries in Lower Austria are well-known for its legendary Gruner Veltliner. In addition, other grape varieties are grown here, including Zinfandel, Riesling, Zweigelt. The latter, by the way, produces an excellent Austrian dry red wine with a deep cherry-ruby color, an expressive berry aroma, and a refined velvety taste.
In recent years, several winemakers in the Lower Austria region have begun to develop a sparkling wine known as Sekt Methode Traditionelle. These wines are produced using conventional fermentation methods that occur in the bottle.
