Since January 1, 2020, Winzergenossenschaft Achkarren has been fully powered by renewable energy. Their journey began in 2010 with the installation of their first photovoltaic system, which channels solar energy into the local grid. With multiple installations, the winery now generates nearly one-third of its annual energy needs from the sun. The team recognizes the importance of environmental stewardship, especially as they work closely with nature. Recent investments in energy-efficient equipment further demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.

One of the Best Vineyards in Germany

The Achkarrer Schlossberg vineyard is renowned for its rich volcanic soil, which allows vine roots to penetrate deeply and absorb essential minerals. Winzergenossenschaft Achkarren manages approximately 75 percent of this prime land, ensuring the cultivation of high-quality, mineral-rich grapes year after year. The vineyard serves as the foundation for their exceptional wines, and the dedicated team in the cellar works diligently to craft the best expressions of each vintage.

Adapting to Climate Change

Wine quality is closely linked to natural factors such as sunlight, wind, and rainfall. Since the early 2000s, these conditions have shifted, resulting in warmer temperatures and reduced precipitation. In response, the Achkarren winemakers have implemented a new grape payment system that allows for an earlier main harvest, helping them adapt to these changing climate conditions while maintaining the quality of their wines.
