Some of the most famous wines in the world are found here under some of these following appellations: Saint-Émilion AOC, Pomerol AOC and Fronsac AOC, just to mention of few of these famous wine regions in Libournais.

Although much of Bordeaux wines are blends of two or more grape varieties, the wines produced on the left side of the Garonne river are quite typical Cabernet Sauvignon blends, while the wines produced on the right side of the river consist mostly of blends where the primary grape is Merlot, such as in Pomerol, a region which produces wines of a unique and well-known quality of both Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Château Coutet – a Sustainable Winery

At Château Coutet, fantastic wines are produced by biodynamic cultivation, completely without pesticides and only with natural compost. The varied flora around the vineyard benefits healthy and sustainable agriculture. Everything is done manually. The owners, the family David Beaulieu, share their knowledge with a passion to all visitors, who also get to sample good wines.

Château Vieux Mougnac – Experience and Knowledge Combined

Château Vieux Mougnac is situated just 50 km from Bordeaux. Here visitors can get an ancient view of historic wine-making since 1870. Today, the family Milhard-Bessard produces organic white and red wines of grapes like Semillon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.

Chateau Vieux Mougnac also has a partnership with the famous Michelin restaurant Agrikultur in Stockholm. On June 19 this year, a luncheon combo with the best food from southwestern France and Sweden, together with the wines from Château Vieux Mougnac.

Château de la Dauphine – a Royal Site

Here in Fronsac, Cardinal Richelieu and his nephew made some of the most prestigious wines, and even the Château de La Dauphines, at the Dordogne, can boast of a royal visit from Marie-Josèphe de Saxe, who was married to both Louis XV and XVI. Since 2015 the Labrune family are the proud owners of these 53 hectares of beautiful biodynamic vineyards. Château de La Dauphine and Delphis de La Dauphine are two of the famous wines produced at Château de la Dauphine.

Château La Croizille – Old Traditions and Modern Technology

The Château La Croizille is located in Saint-Emilion on the right bank of the river Dordogne. The estate has an exceptional soil of blue and red clay, soft sandstone and limestone.

The vineyard is run by the De Schepper-De Mour family by using ancient traditions and modern technology. The wonderful climate helps the grapes to mature properly and become sweet. At Château La Croizille you may bok your stay-over while attending workshops, wine tastings and tours of the property.

Château Perron - Like in a Fairytale

Château Perron sits near the church in Lalande-de-Pomerol village and is home of Massonie family since 1958. Bertrand Massonie is running the family business of winery following the footprints of his father, Michael Massonie. He is taking care of the family property for more than 15years now. Vignobles MP Massonie is a member of the first association for Bordeaux wine SME certified ISO 14001.
The winery services include wine trading, dedicated team, personalisation and geolocation, and offers organic and biodynamic principles and produces biodynamic red, white and rosé wines and sparkling wines.

Château Puyfromage - A Gem in Libournais

Château Puyfromage is situated in Francs Côtes de Bordeaux, next to Saint-Emilion. Four brothers – Yves, Francis, Philippe and Frédéric Marque – own the estate today after their grandfather Abel Alber, took over Château Puyfromage in 1943. This old vineyard has an area of 53 hectares with both old and new vines. The main grape is Merlot.

The producer works with a dedicated team and fantastic climate conditions that make it possible to offer quality wines. In addition, their association with expert oenologist leads to a precisely controlled winemaking process. All of these dry, fruity and aromatic wines are very tasteful with notes of earth, ripe cherries, strawberries and plums. They have soft tannins and a spicy finish.
