VINICULTURE
The Lothian Mourvédre Rosé was handpicked on 26th March 2022.
The block had been grown with a ballerina trellis, with its more open canopies which ripened the grapes. Grapes were picked in the early morning and fed into the press for whole-bunch pressing. The degree of ripeness and the gentleness of the whole-bunch pressing, allowed all the juice to be used without fear of excessive colour pick up.
The wine was kept on its gross lees for about 4 months with stirring when needed. The wine was racked and bottled with the same dryness at which it finished the ferment.
TASTING NOTES
Very pale rose onion skin with notes of white pepper, kumquat, smoke, cut grass and a savoury twist. A focused entry with a soft mid-palate ripeness and texture balanced by a lively acidity. Intriguing notes of smoked meat, grilled peach, mandarin and wild raspberries, the wine has a nod to the Bandol styling and travels to a persistent finish.
