Rosè
Cálem Rosé Port is a fresh and engaging fortified rosé made from Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Franca, grown on schistous-sandstone soils with some granite, up to 600 meters of altitude. The vineyards are planted on traditional horizontal terraces and newer vertical slopes (“vinha ao alto”). Vinification includes a light maceration for color and aroma extraction, gentle pressing, then a slow, cool fermentation (14–16°C) in open stainless steel vats to preserve its light and fruity style. Fortification with grape brandy halts fermentation, and the wine is then matured for a minimum of 3 years in stainless steel vats to develop balance and complexity. With its vibrant color, this rosé Port offers expressive floral notes and aromas of red fruits like cherry and raspberry. The palate is fresh, silky, and appealing, with a delicate sweetness.
