Fine white

Fine white

Cálem Wine Cellar

This fine white Port from Portugal is fragrant, fresh, and light, made from traditional grape varieties Viosinho, Malvasia Fina, Verdelho, and Rabigato grown on schistous-sandstone soils with some granite, at altitudes up to 600 meters. The grapes are hand-picked at optimal ripeness, destemmed, crushed, and fermented with constant churning at controlled temperatures (16–18°C) until the desired sweetness is reached. The fermentation is halted by adding grape brandy to create this fortified wine. Matured for at least three years in large oak barrels and stainless steel vats, the wine displays a pale straw color, rich and perfumed nose with floral and tropical fruit aromas. On the palate, it is smooth, full-bodied, and firm, finishing with a delicious fruity sweetness.
