Lágrima

Lágrima

Cálem Wine Cellar

Lágrima is an aromatic, sweet, and velvety white Port wine made from traditional grape varieties Viosinho, Malvasia Fina, Verdelho, and Códega, grown on schistous-sandstone soils with some granite at altitudes up to 600 meters. The grapes are hand-picked at optimal ripeness, destemmed, crushed, and fermented in stainless steel vats with constant churning at controlled temperatures (16-18°C) until the desired sweetness is reached. The fermentation is then halted by adding grape brandy to create this fortified wine. The wine is a blend from different harvests, matured at least three years in a combination of large and small oak barrels and stainless steel vats. It displays a golden color with pronounced aromas of dried fruit and elegant honey notes. On the palate, it offers irresistible sweetness with a velvety, complex texture and a long, lingering finish.
