Since 1927, the wines of Château Dauphiné-Rondillon are commercialized in bottles and are appreciated as much as the prestigious Sauternes. During a lunch given in honor of the Queen Juliana of the Netherlands, the Château Dauphiné-Rondillon 1937 was presented together with Château Yquem 1939.
The vineyard is exclusively situated in the high slopes of Loupiac, exposed South-South West. The soil is mainly clayey chalk. On all the bases of the hillsides, the soil is made of clay or gravel on the top hill
Made from the oldest vines of our estate (110 years old), The “Cuvée d’Exception du Château Dauphiné-Rondillon” is a noble late harvest wine that is the best wine in our production. This cuvée is vinified as our ancestors: vinification and maturation in barrels. This is an exceptional wine, issued from a limited serial in which we have done our best to respect our Terroir and to give to you the best of our vines.
The vintage 2011 is an outstanding vintage for noble late-harvest wines. With cool summer, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc have kept a thin skin on which Botrtyis Cinerea has developed quickly. A combination of East wine and Sun have accelerated the Botrytis process in under 5 days! Most of the crop was harvested mid-October showing a great balance with beautiful acidity and intense aromas.
