Tenuta Dioscuri: A Legacy of Fine Wines
Passito wine “Greco di Bianco” DOC Ares (Greek God of War) from Tenuta Dioscuri. It represents one of the ancient vines of Italy and is the fruit of the vine brought in the 7th century BC by the Greek colonists, who founded the first nucleus of what was later called Magna Graecia in the most extreme part of the Ionian coast of Calabria. It was once produced in those stone millstones, visible in the hills around Bianco. Even today, Greco di Bianco Doc is produced after drying the grapes on racks exclusively in the municipalities of Bianco and Casignana (RC). The wine, aged in barrique and bottled in a limited number, has a straw yellow colour, complex hints of dates and honey, walnuts and black pepper, almonds and apricot, an intense but also refreshing savory mouthfeel with an iodine finish mixed with mustard and caramelised figs.
