AOP Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Vieilles Vignes

AOP Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Vieilles Vignes

Domaine de La Charbonniere

This is a tribute cuvée crafted from the estate's oldest vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Grenache grapes come from century-old vines on clay-sandy soil in the renowned "La Crau" vineyard, with additional plots from "Coudoulet" since 2017. Mourvèdre grapes are sourced from the "Cristia" lieu-dit. The viticulture includes rigorous bud pruning, green harvesting, and leaf thinning, with hand harvesting and double sorting. Vinification treats Grenache and Mourvèdre separately, with about 4 weeks of gentle maceration to delicately extract aromas, followed by malolactic fermentation in wooden vats or demi-muids. Aging is done in wooden vats and 500–600 L demi-muids, producing a refined and expressive wine. Recommended to serve at 16–18°C, preferably decanted.
